Northern Lights and the God of the Universe

Austin and I just got back from a trip to Europe where we were wanting to see the Northern Lights. We planned the trip with a one night trip outside the city to see the lights. (We did have a room in a hotel out in the mountains that you could view them from but it was not a hunt for them like our night out was) You may know that 1...you have to go out...away from light saturation to really see the lights. And 2....they don't always show.
I was worried (of course 😜) that we had put all our "eggs in one basket."  We pretty much needed the lights to show on the night we went out or we might not see them at all.
So, instead of worrying about it all through our trip, I prayed about it.....Austin and I prayed about....then I prayed a little more. Sometimes I feel guilty for praying about such "small things." I mean, should the God of the universe be bothered by my desire/hope to see the Northern Lights when there are real problems going on in the world?!

Our group for the excursion was full of Americans! It was fun....there were 10 of us- from MS, TX, NY, NH. The group from New Hampshire was saying they went out the night before and could barely see them so they were trying again. They said that the scale for viewing the lights was a 4 when they went but tonight was a 7 (highest is 9). First...so thankful I didn't know there was a scale or I would have been obsessively checking it! Second....yay! tonight's a 7!
When we got to our destination, the lights were AMAZING! Dancing in the sky! We were all photographing and standing in awe. I said a silent prayer of thanks for being able to view this.

Our driver said that it was the best night of the year that he has seen the lights.

Y'all! God cares about our small stuff!!! He not only showed us the lights, He made them the best of the year! How great is our God?!!

More pics- exploring Faroe Islands

The first picture here is their prison...seriously THEIR PRISON!!! Overlooking the fjords.....ummm not to shabby!

I Love this beautiful place! We drove to 3 of the islands today and hiked one of them ( I mean, not as high as it could go...we could still see the car!). (It was hard!)

Also, sweet Austin drove us all around today (he never lets me drive) and I pretty much just cried while looking at the scenery and listening to our wedding song.....WHAT is this LIFE?

So thankful for my precious family and friends helping with my kids so we could come on this trip. It's like a movie!!!

Made it to Faroe Islands!

The first 6 picture are from Iceland. We went to the top of the tallest point in Reykjavik and got to take picture of the city. It was so windy that they closed the tower right after we went up!
We ate at Messin and it was the BEST fish.

There are more sheep in the Faroe Islands and we saw our first ones when leaving the airport. Our hotel is small with this tiny elevator that Austin and I had to ride separately bc it would hold us and the bags.

We had lunch at Kaffihusiø (The Coffee House) and as expected it was not very good. Good thing I brought snacks!

The 7th picture is taken from the car but it's so beautiful....can't wait to explore.

Finally, the last picture is looking out from our hotel room. The grass thatched houses are amazing!

Missing the kiddos!

A letter to Bo

Dear Bo,

You are such a kind, gentle boy. Please don't let this world change you. Don't let the negativity invade your spirit. Middle school can be tough, but be confident in yourself as God's child.

You're entering into the dreaded preteen years and we're certainly starting to see the effects of that- eye rolling, grunting, thinking we know nothing! But there is so much I love about you.....you are so stinking smart, when you put your mind to something - you usually do it (even though you're kind of lazy about things at the moment) , and the fact that you say 'whoopsies' when you make a mistake gets me every time!

I love you so much my first born and am so thankful God knitted our family together so perfectly.

Love,
Moma
